I want to raise an important issue which affects more of us than we could ever imagine and that is abuse at home. Men, women and children are mentally and physically abused every day and I would like to make you aware of a campaign which I was introduced to, '16 Days of Activism Against Gender based Violence' which wanted to promote and urge any victim of abuse to talk about their trauma and not hide it, be ashamed of it, be frightened or blame themselves for any violence shown towards them, sexual, mental or physical.
As hairdressers we are in close contact with our clients. Not only do we want them to look amazing but we want them to feel amazing too. We have respect for their privacy and over the years I have watched children grow up and have children of their own...how old do I feel! I have listened to many of their stories and shared many laughs and tears.
Therefore our industry is now aware more than ever how we can help anyone who is willing to open up and talk. We can comfort you, but more importantly put you in touch with professional people who can really make a difference.
Take it from someone who has been there, DON'T SUFFER IN SILENCE!
